Leonhard Gruenschloss

Leo led the software team at the Centre for Population Genomics, where he established and grew an engineering team that built a scalable cloud-based platform for genomic analysis. Drawing on his experience at Google working on planet-scale systems, he brought industry best practices to the research setting, creating infrastructure that has processed thousands of whole genomes. He is currently at Neara, leading development of digital twin modeling for electric utility networks.

The Centre for Population Genomics is a joint national initiative of Garvan Institute of Medical Research and the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute. The Institutes are national leaders in genomic research, with complementary strengths spanning large-scale genomics, data science, population health, and clinical impact.
