The Australian Functional Genomics Network (AFGN) is a national consortium with the principal aim of fostering collaboration between model organism researchers, human geneticists, and clinicians. By enabling a ‘clinic to bench and back’ integrative approach, the project aims to support functional validation of human genetic variants that cause disease and ultimately improve diagnosis, interventions and treatments. The CPG is collaborating on this project by supporting the development of rapid and efficient submission pathways for new candidate genes and variants to the Australian Functional Genomics Network.
